Advice From A Step-Mom

With so many different family dynamics that currently exist in our country, sometimes the best advice may come from an unexpected source. Co-parenting exists in many different forms. In this example, a biological mother and step-mother work closely together to form a relationship. They both understand the importance of working together for the sake of the children. The step-mom is the primary parent along with the biological father. But, instead of shutting out the mother, she relies on her to work together. She frequently calls her and works with her on how to handle situations. This forward way of thinking from the step-parent that involves cooperative co-parenting should be a model example for anyone in a co-parenting situation. Working together and solving problems together is always easier when two people are involved.

The same goes for non-romantic co-parenting. Knowing and planning in advance on how to deal with certain topics or situations is best. Knowing and understanding your role within your agreement but being open to feedback is always important. To read the interview that inspired this post, click here.
